About

Nestled in the heart of Hollywood with a heritage that screams ‘if only these walls could talk’, the building was constructed in 1930 and has been many things over its lifetime including Silent Movie Theatre, Live venue and finally a Recording Studio. In the 70’s legendary producer and musician Alan Dickinson took over the facility and created Grandmaster Recorders. Over the years the studio was home to legends. Davie Bowie, Neil Young, Stevie Wonder, Ringo Starr, Motley Crue, Billy Idol, Blondie and later Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kanye West, Foo Fighters, Beck and many many more that all recorded here until it closed its doors in 2016 upon the death of Alan Dickson.

Only in Hollywood could you inherit such a legacy soaked in Jack Daniels, sweat and rock rock n roll. The Botanical Group has paid tribute to this heritage by staying true to the buildings rock n roll roots incorporating elements of its past within every aspect of the concept. Grandmaster Recorders as we now know it is a restaurant, rooftop and studio bar, operating seven days a week from Fall 2021.

The restaurant is headed up by The Botanical Group Culinary Director Monty Koludrovic and his wife Jaci, along with Head Chef Blake Shailes, who have put their spin on Italian cuisine, or as we like to call it Roccia e Rotolo Cibo. The ethos of Grandmaster Recorders is an all encompassing space, come for a meal and stay for the night, breathing new life into a venue steep in musical history.
